Finding God's Peace

By Lindsay Roberts

The Bible is filled with reminders that God works through seasons. In nature, every season carries its own beauty and purpose. Spring brings new beginnings. Fall reminds us to gather the harvest. Winter invites us to rest and prepare for what is ahead.

Just as God designed seasons in creation, I believe He also ordains seasons in our lives. Discovering the spiritual season you are in begins with prayer, worship, and a heart that is willing to listen for His direction.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-6 NIV reminds us, “There is a time for everything…a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away.”

Sometimes God asks us to hold on. At other times, He gently leads us to let go. His timing may not always make sense to those around us, but obedience to His leading can open the door to His perfect plan.

Peace in the Middle of Change

Some people welcome change with excitement, while others find it difficult or even frightening. Yet, God never intended for life’s transitions to rob us of our peace.

     Philippians 4:6-7 NIV encourages us:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

When we place every concern into God’s hands, His peace can become our protection. Even when the future is uncertain, the Bible teaches us of His presence that remains constant.

Let the Past Stay in the Past

Your past may describe part of your story, but it does not have to define your future.

Isaiah 43:19 reminds us that God desires to “make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” As God directs us and we release yesterday’s disappointments, we now can make room for tomorrow’s possibilities.

Every new season is another opportunity to trust His goodness.

Five Biblical Keys for Navigating Change

1. Seek God’s Direction First

David continually inquired of the Lord before making important decisions (2 Samuel 5:19-20). Peace often follows prayerful direction.

2. Trust God’s Timing

God’s calendar is always right on time. Habukkuk 2:2-3 reminds us that even when His promises seem delayed, they are never late.

3. Take Faith-Filled Action

Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7 NIV)

Faith can grow as we move forward in His Word and in obedience to it.

4. Exercise Your Measure of Faith

Romans 12:3 teaches that God has given to each believer a measure of faith. Like a muscle, faith can become stronger when it is exercised.

5. Trust God’s Process

Luke 8:17 reminds us that what is hidden will eventually be revealed. God has a way of bringing clarity exactly when we need it.

A Thought to Remember

Discovering the season we’re in can find a beautiful beginning through prayer, praise, and a willingness to follow God’s leading.

Practice Peace

Take a moment today and ask yourself:

• What season of life am I in?

• Is God asking me to begin something new?

• Is there something I need to release?

• What step of obedience is He asking me to take today?

I encourage you to consider inviting the Holy Spirit to guide you through every transition with wisdom, courage, and peace. As you trust His timing, you can discover that every season–whether one of growth, waiting, or new beginnings–can become an opportunity to experience His faithful presence.
